Walfrido Garcia, known in the art world as simply “Walfrido” was born on November 23,1966 in the Philippines. His Father Edgardo F. Garcia, a well know artist and instructor, came to the United States in 1969 during turbulent times in the Philippines. The family reunited in Los Angeles in 1972. In 1973 they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where Edgardo taught the fine art of oil painting to his protege Walfrido.
At the age of 14 Walfrido apprenticed with his father. His duties included being a teacher's assistant at their home studio...
Looking back, my first steps toward a life working with glass were taken on a trail in a Caribbean rainforest. The year was 1994 and I had hiked up a small trail toward the sound of moving water. Before me stood a waterfall, a hundred feet high, descending through the forest, ferns, and cliffs. It was a cascade from a painted dream, and I was mesmerized. I watched how the water began to gather in the river above and brake apart into segments as it fell, before collecting into a perfect pool below...
After moving to United States in the late seventies, Eduardo Bolioli studied at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York.
In the mid-eighties, he moved to Honolulu where he started making a living by painting surfboards for pro surfers, such as World Champions Shaun Tomson, Sunny Garcia and Martin Potter. He soon became the art director for Blue Hawaii Surf and later on for Local Motion. He also designed T-Shirts for surf brands like Quicksilver, Billabong and Gotcha during that period.
Hawaii Seascape and Crazy Tiki artist Trey Surtees, was born in Pensacola, Florida. His father was a very talented artist and had the most influence on the creative endeavors of Trey's life. His mother was also an artist and specialized in floral paintings. Starting out as a caricature, portrait and airbrush artist, he later followed his passion and became a painter of the sea. His passion for surfing and kayaking has inspired Trey to translate to canvas, for others to experience, his love of the ocean and all its power and majesty.
The 2Wild collaboration was born when brother and sister duo, Barak and Miri Rozen vain, each a successful and popular artist on their own, decided to join forces on a collaboration that changed their lives forever.
